I'm sorry that I've been quiet for so long. The holidays were busy, but I did keep up with my running schedule, despite frigid temperatures. Thank you to the treadmills at the Minneapolis Blaisdell YMCA!
Last week's long run was on the C&O Canal and this week we ran on the Capital Crescent Trail in Bethesda, MD. Very pretty sites. Next Saturday we run in a race in Georgetown!
My best running story of the last couple of weeks is that last Sunday I was running around the Washington Monument when I suddenly heard "clip clop clip clop." I looked to my left and saw a horse running along beside me. Turned out it was Officer Jones, a very nice member of the US Park Police mounted unit. His horse, Cody, seems to have the same pace as I do (at a trot, that is). We stopped at a stoplight together and did some horse talk--and he invited me to help exercise the police horses! So I just got back from my first visit to the horse barn. After a long run this morning, biking to the barn, and two hours of riding, my legs are TIRED. But I am very, very, very, very happy. This is yet another gift that running has brought me out of the blue.
